Corners of my home

Hier ein Blick in eine Ecke meines Arbeitszimmers. Dieser Schrank ist eine Erinnerung an meine liebe Freundin Irene, die leider letztes Jahr gestorben ist. Ihre Eltern haben mir den Schrank als Erinnerung geschenkt, weil Sie wussten, dass ich ihn immer so schön fand. 

Diese Herz ist mit Lavendel gefüllt. Ich habe es letztens aus einem Leinenrest genäht.

Der Schrank beherbergt meine Stoffe und Nähsachen. Von innen sieht er so aus. Ich gebe zu, ich könnte ihn noch ein wenig netter einräumen. Aber immerhin sind meine Stoffe nach Farben sortiert.

Ich wünsche Euch eine schöne kurze Woche.

Alameda - Antiques by the Bay

Happy Sunday. As it was again the first Sunday of the month I went to Oakland to the Alameda Fleamarket. Again a great selection and the best weather ever. I was very good today, took mostly pictures and bought only a couple of small items. I let the pictures do the talking now.

Gluecklicher Sonntag. Heute war mal wieder der erste Sonntag im Monat und daher bin ich nach Oakland zum Alameda Flohmarkt gefahren. Mal wieder ein tolles Angebot und wunderschoenstes Wetter. Ich war ganz brav und habe mich aufs fotografieren beschraenkt und nur ein paar Kleinigkeiten gekauft. Ich lasse einfach mal Bilder sprechen.

Nature

Here in sunny California everything is starting to bloom. The magnolias and paperwhites have been blooming for a while. Now they are joined by fruit trees, tulips, narcissus, ranunculus...

It is good to see that nature is just following its given path - not wondering and worrying about the world falling apart around. That is something to hold on to in times of crisis like we are facing right now.

I just learned that one of my favorite companies "Shabby Chic" by Rachel Ashwell has filed chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week. Read Rachel Ashwell's blog - it is so sad! I hope she will pick up the pieces and get on.
